Treat Yourself with Respect
Oct 30, 2025
I'm thinking of an athlete that has trained for years. He or she must make thousands of split-second decisions under pressure, is expected to perform perfectly, and must frequently communicate with teammates. One mistake can cause a serious injury. No, I'm not speaking of an NFL quarterback or Olympic bobsledder. The athlete am referring to is a practicing radiologist.
Great athletes use the best equipment. In my view, so should radiologists. No matter what software you use to do your job, a faster PC or Mac, a better graphics card, world-class peripheral devices, an ergonomic chair and table all make a difference. My advice to any radiologist is treat yourself with respect. Select a computer and peripherals suitable for the professional gamer that you are. If you spend $5000 on a set up that lasts five years and read 20,000 exams per year, the cost per exam for an elite set up is five cents. You're worth it.
